Familiar to Broadway audiences and theatre fans across the country alike, Katie Rose Clarke is an actress and singer who has starred in both the Broadway and National Tour productions of hit shows THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and WICKED, and she was also featured in the Original Broadway Cast of ALLEGIANCE and in the revival of legendary musical MISS SAIGON. Not limited to the stage, her range of work also includes various screen projects. Katie recently finished a reprise run as Glinda in WICKED on Broadway and is also involved in the development of THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL, a new musical based on the iconic songbook of Huey Lewis & the News.
A native of Southeast Texas, Katie earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from Sam Houston State University. During her last semester in college, the unique opportunity to audition for the role of Clara Johnson in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA arose, and soon after, Katie won the opportunity to make her Broadway debut, replacing Kelli O'Hara in the Lincoln Center production. Katie also played the role in the National Tour and the PBS National Broadcast, Live From Lincoln Center.
The next role which Katie stepped into was Glinda in WICKED's First National Tour. Glinda's infamous bubble took her on a journey around the country and ultimately landed her back on Broadway, where she starred as the Good Witch at the Gershwin Theatre.
George Takei's ALLEGIANCE presented Katie with the opportunity to fulfill a dream to originate a role on Broadway. Cast as nurse Hannah Campbell, Katie brought this timely, meaningful story of hope, love, sacrifice and forgiveness to life alongside Mr. Takei, Lea Salonga, and Telly Leung during the show's run at the Longacre Theatre.
MISS SAIGON was the next Broadway project for Katie; she brought Ellen to life in the revival production at the Broadway Theatre for its 11-month limited engagement.
In addition to those credits, Katie has appeared in a variety of regional productions, including A PRAYER FOR MY ENEMY (Long Wharf), TENDERLOIN (York Theatre Company), TRAVELS WITH MY DISCONTENT (Barrington Stage Company), and THE LAST FIVE YEARS (Long Wharf), for which she was honored with the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Her credits include notable concerts as well, including Lincoln Center's PARADE concert, conducted by composer Jason Robert Brown and also featuring Laura Benanti and Jeremy Jordan.
